The Bee Moments series is usually about capturing bees “doing their thing” in the natural environment. And though this insect looks like a bee, it’s actually a Common Banded Hoverfly. Because of this possible misconception, and the moment this Hoverfly photo captures. It felt like a perfect fit to include this shot in the series .

The naturally gradated background of deep forest green on the right fading to a lighter almost florescent leaf green on the left, builds a movement through the photo in the Hoverfly’s anticipated direction of travel.
