M' Lady
As part of the Bee Moments series, you might be asking, "Where’s the Bee?” But this is an example of “an other insect” within the series that I just couldn't resist photographing.
I found this particular composition laid out before me coming off a peak. The vibrant red Lady Bug hangs upside down on the leaf of a wilting Sunflower. The striped yellow and white pattern of the petals versus the splotched black dots of the Lady Bug begin the contrast, which is extended by the opposing colors of yellow and red. Both color and pattern combined to literally stop me in my tracks, and grab my camera. Fortunately the Lady Bug kept hanging out upside down to provide a bit of drama in the shot. Then while finishing, I blurred the Lady Bug's face a bit, so the viewer could focus more on the full composition. With a consistent neutral background, this print will play well in nearly any room, while M’ Lady adds just a pop of color and visual tension hanging out over the void. And don’t be surprised if you or others are caught staring at the Perfectly Designed scene nature has composed.
