The Bee Moments series does occasionally feature other insects doing interesting things. A Bee Fly, not a Bee, is the focal point of this photo. And frankly this would have made a sufficiently compelling moment as it perches / hovers gathering nectar. But then there’s the happy accident of a greenish blue Sweat Bee dashing in.

The deep clay reds alternating with lighter earthen tones in the background provide a pallet that really pushes the action of the photo forward. Assisted by textural green vegetation on the left that subtly guides our eye to the incoming Sweat Bee. The generously colored lavender and pink Small Flowered Penstemon occupies the foreground. While, the Bee Fly’s paneled eyes hold unwavering focus on its task, with its wings beating to hold the position of its bushy brown body. All the time it is unaware of the incoming Interloper just beyond.

Add a bit of of a story to an otherwise ignored area of your home. The narrative within this piece makes it lovely for transitional entry ways, hall ways and stairs. The reds and browns of the background will likely compliment most floors and carpeting, while the flower adds just a bit of color. And during the in betweens of your day, stop briefly and enjoy the moment, as our protagonist, the Bee Fly is Paying No Attention to the Interloper — the Sweat Bee, to continue on about its business.
