I’ve commented before that once a bee buries itself in a flower it is usually not interesting enough to rise to the level of being a Bee Moment. Half a bee stuck out, especially from a fluted flower, is behaviorally on point. Visually, it strikes a sort of ho hum. Not so though, with this Bumble Bee, Buried deep in a Bristle Thistle.

I found the scene in a shadowy canyon in the foothills near where a live. Only a wisp of the bee's antenna is poking up from the flower, while the entire rest of its head is hidden. This gives witness to how far down the bee has dug in. It even looks like the forward most leg is being used as some sort of leverage to get in even further. Take all that away though == the deep desire of the bee’s bushy yellow back highlighted between the glowing, green background, and purple, pink Thistle. And, the individual rows of orange hair fanned out, and standing up as the bee forages, are rare enough to demand the shot. I generally witness the hair on a bee's abdomen laying down. The orange hair appears in two or three flat rows. This presentation though is really unique.

Put this print in a transitional space, or place it with prominence in nearly any room. It will hold its own with the intensity of the Bumbles Bee’s intent, but provide maybe a chuckle upon further inspection. As, our friend is Buried deep and Gettin’ After It. How can you not smile?
